Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. The resources on the site, which support all areas of the curriculum, are arranged in accordance with the curricular provisions of the Irish primary school….


Interview with Chief Inspector – Call for Questions

Dr. Harold Hislop, Chief Inspector

Seomra Ranga is delighted to announce that Dr. Harold Hislop, the Chief Inspector with the Department of Education and Skills (DES) has kindly agreed to be the next subject in our interview series. Originally from Co. Cavan, he trained as a primary teacher in Church of Ireland College of Education (CICE). He taught in Whitechurch NS in Rathfarnham, where he later became principal. He gained a Ph.D. from University College Dublin (UCD) and in the mid-1990’s was seconded to the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA). He subsequently joined the Inspectorate of the DES in 1998 and was appointed Chief Inspector in April 2010. read more…

Seomra Ranga’s 4th Birthday

4th Birthday

Today marks the 4th birthday of Seomra Ranga. It’s hard to believe that the fledgling site is now four years old. A lot has happened in the intervening years. What started out as something very small and intimate has grown beyond all expectations. I mentioned on Twitter last week that if you begin to type “seo” into Google.ie, the first search result that pops up is Seomra Ranga! I remarked in a blog post after year 1 that the visitor numbers to the site had passsed 67,000. This number can easily be reached in a month now. In fact, during the past 30 days there have been more than 50,000 visitors with more than 600,000 page impressions. Given that some of that period includes the holidays during August, they are staggering figures indeed. read more…
