Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Guest Post: Subbing – A Way of Life

My dream has always been to work in education. I love learning, I love exploring, imagining, discovering. When I graduated into the primary sector I began to dream about my classroom: What will it look like? What will the pupils be like? The school? All sorts of questions. As of yet, I do not have that classroom. I am a sub! On the positive side, subbing has made me develop the ability to think on my feet. Our School Community QR Codes

A member of staff in my school recently organised an eye-catching and colourful display board in the entrance foyer to our school. It was called “Our School Community”. Every pupil in the school drew and coloured a small “head and shoulders” picture of themselves. These were arranged in a circle in the centre of the display board. read more…

Co-operative Learning 01

Getting pupils to work in groups is a great methodology to take advantage of in the classroom. However, in order for it to be most effective, it is helpful to allocate pupils a role to play in the group discussion, otherwise the usual confident pupils may take over, and the pupils you want to encourage to take a more active part may stay in the background.

Trócaire Lenten Resources 2012

Next Wednesday, February 22nd marks the beginning of Lent 2012 and, as usual, the Trócaire charity has produced some great classroom resources to coincide with the season of Lent. Uganda is the focus of the resources this year and there are separate resources for Junior Primary pupils, Senior Primary pupils and Post-Primary pupils. The resources provide pupils with information, lessons, photos and activities that explore Trócaire’s work through the lens of Uganda. It considers the impact of a community dealing with difficulties facing them post conflict. read more…
