They help to develop vocabulary, sentence structure and left to right orientation. They feature five-word sentences with a “farmer”theme with a sentence structure “The farmer has a ….”.

Peg Grammar 01

peg_grammar_01This peg literacy resource is aimed at pupils in middle classes or SEN pupils. It is based on the identification of parts of grammar in a sentence – noun, verb, adjective, adverb. The pack contains 20 cards – on the left hand side of each card is a sentence with a word coloured red and underlined. The pupil has to use a clothes peg to identify on the right hand side of the card which part of grammar that word is.

Guest Post: Setting Up A School Library

LibraryThere are a number of things to be considered when establishing a school library.

Function: Is the library just for lending or do you see it as a place for study and research? Are you considering teaching in the area? Are you incorporating the idea of the library as a maker space?

Location: Ideally, it should be in a central location that is accessible to all students and staff. Classroom libraries are OK if there is no other facility available but ideally try to earmark a space for the school library. read more…
