Seomra Ranga Wins Edublog Award

Seomra Ranga Wins Edublog Award

Seomra Ranga has won the prestigious Best Individual Blog at the 9th annual international Edublog Awards held online last night. It was a truly unexpected win as I had presumed that the might of the larger US and UK blogs would prevail. There were originally 139 nominations from all over the world. This was whittled down to a shortlist of 44 blogs which were then put to a public vote. Again I thought that the greater education communities in the UK and US would easily surpass the votes I could muster from supporters in Ireland. read more…

ICT in the Classroom eBulletin – Issue 7

ICT in the Classroom eBulletin – Issue 7

This is the seventh of David Ganly’s ICT in the Classroom eBulletins. David teaches in Donabate Community College and he says that the eBulletin started off as an idea he had to engage and encourage teachers in his school to use ICT in the classroom. After putting the first edition together he soon realised that it would be more beneficial if he made it open for any teacher to use, so he then decided to circulate it through his email contacts, the CESI list and Edmodo.

Book Review: And the Blood Flowed Green

Book Review: And the Blood Flowed Green

We really enjoyed this futuristic and funny book.

It’s probably more suitable for boys than girls and those with an interest in space and science-fiction.

The action is fast-paced and the illustrations really add to this.

The plot is forever twisting but there’s lots of humour in them too.

We loved all the different creatures and planets. read more…

As you may know, Seomra Ranga is a finalist in the Edublog Awards in the “Best Individual Blog” category. It is up against some really big and well-known blogs from the US and the UK. As these awards are given on the basis of a public vote, I’d appreciate if teachers who use the site would ask their colleagues to vote for Seomra Ranga. You can vote every day at http://edublogawards.com/vote-here/ until December 9th. There’s a downloadable poster for your staffroom to encourage your colleagues to vote. Please print it out and display prominently in your staffroom! Many thanks!

Seomra Ranga a Finalist in Edublog Awards

I was delighted this morning to find out that  Seomra Ranga has been selected as a finalist in the international Edublog Awards in the Best Individual Blog category. The Edublog Awards were set up to promote and celebrate the value of blogs and social media in education. Although Seomra Ranga has been nominated before, this is the first time that it has made it through to the voting round. Many thanks to those who nominated Seomra Ranga. Now is the time to ask for your votes. If you are a regular visitor to Seomra Ranga, it would be great to show you appreciation by voting for the website. It is up against some “heavy hitters” from the US and the UK, so it would be amazing to feature in the final selection. read more…
