Logainm Competition

logainmLogainm is an Irish website containing a database of the placenames of Ireland. The site comes in an English version or a Gaeilge version and you can switch between both quite easily. The purpose of the site is to make available to the public Irish place names that have been officially approved by the Placenames Branch, and these names can be searched either through Irish or through English. If you simply want the correct translation for a particular placename, you can do a search on the homepage. read more…

Your Song as Gaeilge

Seo na focail agus an fís-scannán don amhrán “Seo É D’Amhrán” (Your Song). B’fhéidir go bhfuil an fonn ar eolas ag na daltaí sna hardranganna. (beidh sé ar eolas ag an múinteoir, cinnte!) Mar sin, b’fhéidir go dtaitneoidh sé leis na daltaí agus beidh suim acu chun é a fhoghlaim. Bheadh sé an-oiriúnach do Sheachtain na Gaeilge freisin. Is féidir na focail a híoslódáil thíos.

Seomra Ranga is Scoilnet Site of the Week

Seomra Ranga is Scoilnet Site of the Week

ScoilnetSeomra Ranga has been selected as the Site of the Week on Scoilnet for this week. This is a great honour for the Seomra Ranga website to be highlighted again on Ireland’s largest portal site for education. Scoilnet referred to Seomra Ranga as the “multi award winning site [which] is a Scoilnet favourite for seasonal resources, teacher-made powerpoints, articles and insights”. read more…

Book Review: SOS Lusitania

Book Review: SOS Lusitania

SOS LusitaniaI just couldn’t put it down!

The standard of writing is brilliant!

I would absolutely recommend this book to my friends.

Thirteen year old Finbar is from Queenstown, Co.Cork. His father is the staff captain of a huge liner called the Lusitania. Finbar’s father has to work all over the world and Finbar misses him greatly whenever he has to go. He decided to sneak onto the Lusitania and follow his father to America. read more…

Tráth na gCeist 2013

Tráth na gCeist 2013

Tráth na gCeist 2013Ocht babhta le sé cheist i ngach babhta, babhta réitigh chomh maith le freagraí go léir ar 127 sleamhnán Powerpoint. Tá an tráth na gceist seo an-oiriúnach don CBI (IWB) sa seomra ranga nó i halla na scoile. Tá sé oiriúnach do pháistí sna meán ranganna agus sna hardranganna. I mo scoil fhéin eagraítear é go bhfuil dalta amháin ó rang 3,4,5 agus 6 ar gach foireann. Rinne mé iarracht go mbeadh ceisteanna éasca agus deacair i ngach babhta. (Tá súil agam nach bhfuil botúin ag baint leis na freagraí, ach má tá botúin ann, bígí cúramach agus tá brón orm!)

SMS Generator

SMS Generator

SMS GeneratorI just came across this great new tool for the classroom on Russell Tarr’s Class Tools website. It is called an SMS Generator. This tool allows you to create a mock text message conversation within this free online tool. It is a really easy tool to use and so effective. To begin the conversation, you click on the speech bubble in the bottom left hand corner. A dialogue box opens up for you to type in the text. When you are finished, you click OK. To get the next person to reply, you click on the speech bubble on the bottom right hand corner this time and enter the reply. You can repeat this process as many times as you wish and there is no limit to the length of the text conversation. read more…
