Ullchabháin ÓgaTo celebrate the second week of Seachtain na Gaeilge, Walker Éireann have kindly sponsored three book packs as Gaeilge as prizes for a competition on the site. Walker Éireann, an imprint of Walker Books, has recently teamed up with Foras na Gaeilge and translated four of their most popular picture books by Irish authors into Gaeilge. Walker Éireann chose books by four bright and brilliant Irish authors and illustrators – Martin Waddell, Sam McBratney, Chris Haughton and Niamh Sharkey – to be translated into Gaeilge. All of the books have been translated by well-known author and illustrator Gabriel Rosenstock. The purpose of the Walker Éireann imprint is to be both a way to celebrate these great authors’ work, and to build the perfect Irish language library for little ones. Walker Éireann is also in the process of translating the next four books into Gaeilge.

Walker Éireann has kindly sponsored three book packs, each with one of the four following books, for the competition. They are:

1. Ullchabháin Óga (Owl Babies) by Martin Waddell – This is the story of three young owls, Sorcha, Peadar and Dónall, sitting in a tree in the forest, waiting anxiously for Mommy Owl to come home. More information including a podcast of the book is available HERE

2. Ar Strae Beagán (A Bit Lost) by Chris Haughton – Uh-oh! The little owl has fallen from it’s nest….. More information including a podcast of the book is available HERE

3. Stiúcaí Stiúgtha (The Ravenous Beast) by Niamh Sharkey – Stiúcaí Stiúgtha is ravenous. There is nobody hungrier than him. Or is there? More information including a podcast of the book is available HERE

4. Tomhais Méid Mo Ghrá Duit (Guess How Much I Love You) by Sam Mc Bratney – When your heart is full of love for someone….you would like to show your love. But, as Young Brown Hare and Old Brown Hare find out, it is hard to find a measure for love! More information including a podcast of the book is available HERE

To be in with a chance to win one of these great book packs for yourself or your school/class library, simply fill in the form below with your details and answers to the questions. All entries for the competition must be in by 5pm this Thursday March 14th. Only one entry per teacher is permitted. Winners will be announced on Twitter after this time. Please make sure that you give a contact email address that you can be contacted on, on Thursday/Friday, as some teachers have missed out on prizes in previous competitions because they didn’t answer their email.
