Peg Match the Letters 03
This resource is aimed at pupils in junior classes or SEN pupils at the beginning of literacy work on letter recognition. Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut up into twenty-six separate cards. Pupils should firstly look at the upper case letter at the top of the card. They should then try to identify its match at the bottom of the card from the four options. They should then place a clothes peg on the correct answer.
Restaurant Sorting
This resource is aimed at pupils in junior classes or pupils with speech and language difficulties. Categorisation is an important skill for younger/SEN pupils to develop. This resource aims to develop categorisation skills as well as to encourage oral language. This sorting activity focuses on foods that make up the different courses in a restaurant meal. It would also be suitable for a class working on a restaurant Aistear theme.

They should then try to identify its matching lower case letter at the bottom of the card from the four options. They should then place a clothes peg on the correct answer.
Peg Body Parts
This resource is aimed at pupils in junior/middle classes or SEN pupils who are beginning to learn the names of various body parts. Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut up into twenty-four separate cards. Pupils should try to recognise the body part in the image on the left of the card and, if they are able to read, to match it to the word on the right of the card by using a clothes peg.
Twitter Wall
If you run a class Twitter account, this resource may be of interest to you. It consists of three Twitter speech bubbles on an A4 page. The page could be printed out numerous times to allow pupils to compose Tweets and to display them in the classroom. This could give pupils practice in composing a story using the 140 character restriction.
What is She/He Doing? 06
This resource is aimed at pupils in junior classes or pupils with speech and language difficulties. Its aim is to encourage oral language, especially verbs, and sentence structure. The focus can also be on the pronouns he, she and they. The teacher can start with the question at the top of each card: “What is/are he/she/they doing?” This could be followed up with questions like “Where are they?” and “How do you know?” This type of question encourages inference and deduction from the context.
Signs of Spring 2015 Twitter Project
Although later than usual due to unforeseen circumstances, it’s time for our Signs of Spring Twitter Project 2015. This will be our 4th year of this event and it gives teachers and pupils a chance to look about and observe the signs of Spring in their environment. We’ve done a Signs of Autumn (#anfomhar) and Signs of Spring (#antearrach) Twitter Projects for the past four years and classes seemed to really enjoy these. Hopefully, we can build on the success of previous projects and get even more schools and classes involved. read more…
