Welcome to Seomra Ranga, the Hub for Primary School Resources. For the overseas visitors “Seomra Ranga” means “classroom” in the Irish language.

Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. The resources on the site, which support all areas of the curriculum, are arranged in accordance with the curricular provisions of the Irish primary school….

New Christmas Website

Nollaig Shona

A sneak preview of the site!

I’m in the final stages of the development of the new Christmas website whcih will be ready soon. It’s called Nollaig Shona and will be where all of the Christmas classroom resources will be located. This is simply a plea to everyone to start a search through your own PC/Laptop to find any Christmas-themed resources that you may have created over the years – worksheets, posters, Powerpoints. I’m always looking for new material and would be delighted if teachers would share their Christmas resources on Nollaig Shona. If you have material that you are willing to share with others, please email it to me at info@nollaigshona.ie so that I can get it up on the new site before launch.

Messages from the Presidential Candidates

Elections

I recently contacted all seven of the Presidential candidates, explaining a little about Seomra Ranga and the work it does. I informed them that I was planning to do an article which would allow all the presidential candidates a chance to address the teachers of Ireland directly through the website. I asked them to put their case directly to teachers as to what their vision of the future of Ireland is and why teachers should vote for them as President. They were asked to restrict their article to 300 words, so that the overall article would not be too long. Candidates were given a week to respond. Despite a reminder email to all candidates, after almost two weeks only two of the candidates were able to respond with 300 words! These were the replies received: read more…

The Beautiful House

The Beautiful House

The Beautiful House is based around the theme of Egypt. It can be used to integrate history with drama, with the children taking the parts of “embalmers in training” while the teacher is the “lecturer” and teaches them the entire mummification process.

Facebook Personal Profile

Facebook Page

This is a mock-up of a Facebook Page. While it could be used to get pupils to write about themselves, the creator says that he gets pupils to fill it in as whatever character they are portraying in a drama lesson – that’s a great idea!
