Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Last Monday saw the launch of a new book “Enhancing the Learning and Teaching of Irish With ICTs” (Ag Cur Barr Feabhais Ar Fhoghlaim Agus Ar Theagasc Na Gaeilge Le TFC). The book was launched by Seán O Foghlú, Secretary General, Department of Education  and Skills (DES) in Dublin West Education Centre (DWEC). Guidelines Issued For Book Rental Schemes

The Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn, TD, today launched new “Guidelines for Developing Textbook Rental Schemes in Schools”. The Guidelines provide practical advice to primary and post-primary schools on how rental schemes can be established and operated. It is claimed that book rental schemes can help parents to save up to 80% of the cost of new books. The aim of the guidelines is to encourage as many schools as possible to commence and develop book rental schemes. read more…

Grandparents Project

This week is Catholic Schools Week, and as part of that week, Wednesday January 30th has been designated Grandparents’ Day. It is great to celebrate grandparents in school and this resource gives details of how to organise pupils to do a project on one of their grandparents, either living or deceased. The cross-curricular project covers aspects of SPHE & History with curricular links to English, IT, Art, Music, Geography and Religion.

CESI 40th Anniversary Conference

The Computer in Education Society of Ireland (CESI) is gearing up for its annual conference on Saturday February 22nd, and, as it’s the 40th anniversary of the foundation of CESI, the theme of this year’s conference is “CESI 4.0: Back To Our Future”.
