Welcome to Seomra Ranga, the Hub for Primary School Resources. For the overseas visitors “Seomra Ranga” means “classroom” in the Irish language.

Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. The resources on the site, which support all areas of the curriculum, are arranged in accordance with the curricular provisions of the Irish primary school….


Walker Éireann Book Competition

bardal_feirmeoraWalker Éireann have again kindly sponsored three book packs as Gaeilge as prizes for a competition on the site. Walker Éireann, an imprint of Walker Books, has again teamed up with Foras na Gaeilge and translated another four of their most popular picture books by Irish authors into Gaeilge. Walker Éireann has chosen some well-known books by four brilliant authors and illustrators – Martin Waddell, Sam McBratney, Michael Rosen and Niamh Sharkey – to be translated into Gaeilge. All of the books have been translated by well-known author and illustrator Gabriel Rosenstock. The purpose of the Walker Éireann imprint is to be both a way to celebrate these great authors’ work, and to build the perfect Irish language library for little ones. read more…

Ministers Launch History Lesson Plans

100 ObjectsThe Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D., and the Minister for the Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan T.D., today jointly launched new History lesson plans for primary schools. The History lesson plans are based on A History of Ireland in 100 Objects, the collaborative project involving the National Museum of Ireland, The Irish Times and the Royal Irish Academy (RIA).
