Digital Age of Consent

I must admit that I wasn’t aware until recently that there existed a notion called the “Digital Age of Consent“. Apparently the European Union will in 2018 enact legislation, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to determine the age at which providers of online goods and services (eg. gaming platforms and social media apps and websites) offered to children should seek the consent or authorisation of the child’s parent or guardian. read more…

Noun or Verb?

Is it a noun or is it a verb? Do I spell it with a “C” or with an “S”? Most adults won’t be able to tell you the answer. This resource focuses on the words advice/advise, licence/license, practice/practise and prophecy/prophesy. It contains 10 pages of material to display in the classroom to teach pupils when to use each of these words and how to tell the difference.

Having previously heard Shane Martin speak at an event, and having been really impressed with his presentation style as well as the message he was delivering, I was really interested when I found out that he was publishing a new book.

Having started off his professional life as a secondary school teacher, Shane subsequently trained as a psychologist. Shane is well acquainted with the field of education and travels the country delivering talks in schools on a variety of topics. read more…
