Guess the word is a fun language game in PPTX format to play in the classroom. This FREE shorter version is aimed at pupils in middle and senior classes. On each slide, pupils are given the number of letters in the word, as well as the first and last letter of the word. They are also given a clue to the word. The pupil has to use the clue to solve the word. There are 10 different words in the presentation for pupils to solve.

The words range in length from six to nine letters.

Make sure that you show the presentation in Slideshow mode to get the best out of the slide transitions. Firstly, display the slide with the clue and the missing letters. Give the pupils time to solve the word and then get them to write the word in their copy or on a small whiteboard. When pupils are finished, click on the forward arrow to reveal the solved word.

This game could be used as a fun warm-up to a literacy lesson, used with a small group or it could be used as a spelling station in station teaching.
