Apps For Working With Words
Last night, I presented at the CESI (Computers in Education Society of Ireland) TeachMeet online via Zoom. A TeachMeet is like an informal conference where people give short presentations of between 2-7 minutes. This resource is the presentation I delivered on mobile apps on the theme of “Words”. Mamaigh na hÉireann
This new resource, published to coincide with Science Week 2023, is aimed at making pupils aware of the variety of mammals that can be found in Ireland. The pack consists of 20 different photo posters of Irish mammals as Gaeilge using high quality photos which would make a great display in the classroom or school corridor.
Irish Mammals Trail
The purpose of this resource is to create a fun and active lesson for Science Week, where pupils get out of their desks to complete the task. Suitable for junior/middle classes, the cards on the trail ask the question: “Is this mammal found in the wild in Ireland?” Pupils simply have to answer yes or no to each question. There are 26 picture cards on the trail.
Working Scientifically
This updated resource explains what it means to work scientifically and it outlines the key skills involved in working scientifically in the classroom. The resource has a header poster, three explainer posters followed by 24 flashcards with vocabulary for the key skills involved.
Irish Mammals Research Projects Templates
This resource consists of templates for pupils to do a research project on mammals found in Ireland. It aims to create awareness of the variety of mammals found in Ireland. A two-page template for each of 20 mammals is included in the download. This resource promotes independent and co-operative learning.

Science Trivia
This is a 12 week “Science Trivia” programme intended for use in middle and senior classes. It consists of a new science fact to read about each day of the 12 weeks of the programme. The facts cover different areas of science and should be interesting or fascinating to pupils.
Science Week 2023 Junior Table Quiz
Next week is Science Week 2023 and as usual it is a great time to celebrate the week with a Table Quiz. This resource comprises six rounds of six questions, a Tie-Break round, Science Jokes between rounds and answers to all questions on 136 Powerpoint slides. It is geared towards pupils in the middle part of the school, roughly 1st to 3rd/4th class.
Fair Testing
This newly updated resource for Science Week is aimed at focusing the pupils on the idea of “Fair Testing” and what it means in a scientific sense. The series of 17 posters outlines the steps to be taken in order to ensure that fair tests are conducted in the classroom.
