Peg Number Bonds 10
This resource is aimed at infant or SEN pupils at the beginning of work on numeracy. It is based on number bonds up to 10 with a cat theme. Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut up into 11 separate cards. Pupils should look at the number on the cat on the left side of each card, decide what number must be added to it to make 10 and place a peg on the correct answer on the right side of the card.
Figures of Speech
Some pupils may have difficulty comprehending the meaning behind figures of speech used in language. They will tend to take the meaning literally and not understand the figurative nature of the idiom. There are eight posters in this set which visually display some figures of speech. They should be used to explain the phrases to pupils and to begin a discussion on how they could be used in conversational language.
Book Review: Blood Brother, Swan Sister

This was an interesting book, which had a lot of confusing parts and was a little too magical for a historical book, but the characters were well made and it was good overall.
The people were realistic and the attitudes of the youngsters were very detailed. But I thought there were maybe too many characters, which made it a bit hard to follow. It was also a little improbable that people from different countries would be half brothers who found each other in the middle of a battle, facing each other. read more…
