Many thanks to Ciara Brennan (@PrimEdTeacher on Twitter) for compiling this great 3rd annual list of dates to keep in mind when doing lesson planning for the forthcoming school year. All of these dates give teachers great opportunities to celebrate special occasions in school and to see how they can be integrated into the curriculum for educational purposes. Dolch Loop Cards 03
Dolch words are a list of 220 “service words” developed in the 1940s by William Dolch. They consist of a series of sets of words which are considered to be vocabulary which occurs most frequently in children’s reading material. Although some of the words in the lists can be sounded out phonetically, they really should be memorised as “sight words”.

It is important that pupils become aware of road safety as early as possible in their school lives. This resource focuses on learning about road warning signs. Warning signs are typically diamond in shape with a black border, and contain black symbols or letters on a yellow background. They warn road users of an upcoming hazard.

Counties of Ireland Word Mat
This word mat contains the names of all 32 counties in Ireland to assist pupils when they are learning the physical geography of Ireland. They are arranged alphabetically, province by province for easy learning. The mat also contains provincial crests.

Same & Different Sorting 02
This resource is aimed at pupils in junior classes or pupils with speech and language difficulties. Categorisation/sorting is an important skill for younger/SEN pupils to develop. This resource aims to develop categorisation skills as well as to encourage oral language. This sorting activity focuses on the concept of same/different. There are two images of items of clothing on each sorting card – some images are the same, some are different.
