Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. MATHletes Challenge 2014
MATHletes Challenge 2014 is an online and in-person maths competition which uses the Khan Academy website to give thousands of students across Ireland the chance to compete with each other, and improve their maths abilities. It includes a Student Challenge and a Schools Challenge, and is open to pupils in 5th and 6th class, and Junior Cycle secondary school students. Over €20,000 in prizes will be awarded. read more…

Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSI), in association with Scoilnet Maps, have announced a competition for primary schools called “Map My School”. Aimed at senior classes in primary schools (4th-6th classes), the Map My School competition sets out to bring map making and map reading skills to primary school children. read more…
IPPEA Conference 2014
The Irish Primary PE Association (IPPEA) will hold its annual conference on Saturday March 1st in Carlingford Adventure Centre. The theme of this year’s conference is “Out and About” and a variety of workshops are planned for the day to get participants moving. Oscar Wilde: Stories For Children – Book Review
When Damien asked me to review “Oscar Wilde Stories for Children” I was thrilled. I’ve always loved Oscar Wilde, his stories are full of beautiful images and morals, something I love in all that I read. This book is especially beautiful as the illustrator’s talent shines through and really brings the stories to life. The book has three well known stories included: “The Happy Prince”, “The Nightingale and the Rose”, and “The Selfish Giant”. All have morals built in, perfect for a classroom lesson! read more…
