Silly Sentences 03This resource is aimed at junior/middle pupils or SEN pupils at the beginning of work on literacy. It focuses on sentence construction in a fun way. There are eight pages in the resource which should be laminated and cut up into 31 separate cards. Pupils choose four cards and put them together in the correct order to make the silly sentence. The colour-coded strips on the last page of the resource are to show pupils the order in which to place the cards in order to make the sentence.

Book Review: Viva Alice

Viva AliceThe main characters are Alice and Megan who are best friends. Alice and Megan like hanging out together. Alice lives in a small apartment and Megan lives in a big house. Alice and Megan’s moms are both obsessed with something. Alice’s mom is obsessed with everything having to be clean and Megan’s mom is obsessed with organic foods.

When Alice’s mom wants to throw a party it becomes a disaster. Megan has to step up and help her out by helping to organise and calm her down. However, when Megan was asked to go to Lanzarote her mom declines because she has a health and safety issue. read more…

Peg Colour Word MatchThis resource is aimed at infant/junior pupils or SEN pupils. It is based on matching colours their word name, with a “star” theme. Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut up into twelve separate cards. Pupils should look at the star on the left of each card. The pupil should then attach a peg to the matching colour word on the right side of each card.

Peg Fractions 01This resource is aimed at pupils in middle classes or SEN pupils at the beginning of work on fractions. It is based on finding a half of a number up to twenty. Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut up into ten separate cards. Pupils should work out the fraction on the left side of each card and place a clothes peg on the correct answer on the right of the card.

Teach Your Monster To ReadDeveloped by the Usborne Foundation, Teach Your Monster To Read (First Steps) is an iPad app aimed at younger pupils embarking on the road to reading. It is presented in a game format which should appeal to younger pupils. They have to initially create a personalised monster which is then brought on a journey around island kingdoms.
