Welcome to Seomra Ranga, the Hub for Primary School Resources. For the overseas visitors “Seomra Ranga” means “classroom” in the Irish language.

Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. The resources on the site, which support all areas of the curriculum, are arranged in accordance with the curricular provisions of the Irish primary school….


Peg Body Parts

Peg Body PartsThis resource is aimed at pupils in junior/middle classes or SEN pupils who are beginning to learn the names of various body parts. Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut up into twenty-four separate cards. Pupils should try to recognise the body part in the image on the left of the card and, if they are able to read, to match it to the word on the right of the card by using a clothes peg.

Twitter Wall

Twitter WallIf you run a class Twitter account, this resource may be of interest to you. It consists of three Twitter speech bubbles on an A4 page. The page could be printed out numerous times to allow pupils to compose Tweets and to display them in the classroom. This could give pupils practice in composing a story using the 140 character restriction.

What is She/He Doing? 06

Verbs 06This resource is aimed at pupils in junior classes or pupils with speech and language difficulties. Its aim is to encourage oral language, especially verbs, and sentence structure. The focus can also be on the pronouns he, she and they. The teacher can start with the question at the top of each card: “What is/are he/she/they doing?” This could be followed up with questions like “Where are they?” and “How do you know?” This type of question encourages inference and deduction from the context.

Signs of Spring 2015 Twitter Project

Signs of Spring 2014Although later than usual due to unforeseen circumstances, it’s time for our Signs of Spring Twitter Project 2015. This will be our 4th year of this event and it gives teachers and pupils a chance to look about and observe the signs of Spring in their environment. We’ve done a Signs of Autumn (#anfomhar) and Signs of Spring (#antearrach) Twitter Projects for the past four years and classes seemed to really enjoy these. Heart Numbers 1-20

heart_numbers_1_to_20This resource consists of the numbers 1 to 20 on red hearts to tie in with a Valentine theme in the classroom. They could be used for a display in the classroom. Alternatively, they could be used to get pupils to order them on the ground; play a “missing” game eg. remove a number/series of numbers

Train Timetable 01

Train Timetable 01This resource aims to assist pupils learning about timetables and time in maths. It consists of four different train timetables, each stopping at six stations. The timetables vary in difficulty – one has hourly intervals while the others have a variety of half and quarter hour intervals.
