Book Review: A Cage of Roots
“A Cage of Roots” by Matt Griffin is a story of friendship, courage and adventure. The main character is a teenage girl called Ayla who has many adventures to face and many terrors to suffer. Ayla has been abducted by evil and she is buried in the bowels of the earth. Her stuffy cell made of mud and rock is too hard to dig through. This resource is aimed at pupils in junior classes or SEN pupils at the beginning of literacy work on letter recognition. Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut up into twenty-six separate cards. Pupils should firstly look at the lower case letter at the top of the card. They should then try to identify its match at the bottom of the card from the four options. They should then place a clothes peg on the correct answer.
CESI Conference Revisited
