Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Abacus Matching 01
This resource is aimed at pupils in junior/middle classes or SEN pupils. It assumes an understanding of the representation of number on an abacus. Its aim is to assess whether pupils can match the number with the associated abacus.
Laminate all of the pages in the resource. Cut up the images into 12 separate cards. Cut up the number cards on page 3.

This resource is aimed at pupils in junior/middle classes or SEN pupils who are working on numbers. It is based on the consolidation of numbers in the range 15-24. The resource features images of children playing in the park.
Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut each one up into ten separate strips. Laminate another piece of A4 card.

RDS Primary Science Fair 2016
Last year over 2,700 4th, 5th and 6th class pupils from across the country were at the RDS Primary Science Fair (PSF) with their class projects that answered questions such as ‘Why don’t aeroplanes fall from the sky? ‘Why do giraffes have such long necks?’ and ‘Which water is cleaner for us to swim in, the River Liffey or the Royal Canal? read more…
Clockhead Rap
This resource is called ‘Clockhead Rap’ and is an original fill-in-the-blanks piece designed to help pupils remember headlands and coastal features of Ireland. It is suited to senior classes and could be used in conjunction with an atlas.

Blue Star Programme
European Movement Ireland is delighted to confirm to Seomra Ranga that the Blue Star Programme will be running for its fifth year over the 2015/2016 school term and that the registration process for interested primary schools across Ireland is now open.

Book Review: Brian and the Giant
This book was written by Chris Judge and Mark Wickham. I really liked the cool pictures in this book. These were drawn by illustrator Mark Wickham. The story was about a giant who was really smelly. He wanted to take a bath so he broke up the villagers’ houses. Then he made a dam out of their houses. Nobody knew what was going on so Brian and his brothers tried to uncover what had destroyed their village. read more…
List of Class Novels
Teachers are always seeking advice and recommendations for novels suitable for particular class standards. There are many lists out there, but few are lists recommended by practising classroom teachers. So, in an attempt to compile a list of novels suitable for use in Irish classrooms, I’m asking teachers to complete this short form, based on their classroom experience.
