We read the book “Milly McCarthy and the Sports Day Shambles” by Leona Forde and we really enjoyed it. It is a funny and exciting story. We both thought that Milly was a magnet for mayhem! The book is about a girl called Milly McCarthy and her class getting ready for Sports Day. The have a substitute teacher who thinks that all they are good at is sport. Everything starts to go wrong and there is lots of chaos. Milly tries her best to help, but things keep getting messier.

Our favourite part was when Sports Day didn’t go as planned because it made us laugh a lot. We also liked Milly because she is kind, brave and very funny. The pictures in the book were great and helped us understand the story better.

We liked that it was about a Sports Day as we love Sports Day, especially the egg race. We didn’t like that Milly’s brother got away with things that were his fault.

We would recommend this book to other 3rd class children because it is easy to read and very funny.
