This Free resource is aimed at younger pupils who are working on early number. It is a maths game for two pupils to practise counting skills. The winner of the game is the player who gets the playing object to the finish line on the opposite end of the grid. A Gaeilge version of the game is included in the download.

Print out the game and cut out both parts of the playing grid. Laminate the grids and stick them together. Use a cube, button, pom pom or character as the playing object and place it on the start square which is in the centre of the grid.

Player A throws a die and moves the cube that number of squares in the opposite direction. Player B then throws the die and, using the same playing object, moves it that number of squares in the opposite direction. The first player to reach the Finish square at the opposite end of the grid is the winner.

This game is good for turn taking, concentration and especially counting skills.
