Our names are Síofra and Rory and we are going to tell you about the book “Chop, Cook, Yum” by Deirdre Doyle. This book is very good for young children wanting to help their parents to make healthy meals. There are tips in the front and on the pages all throughout the book. It is a very well laid out book and is very easy to read.

The first two recipes in this book that we did are “Chia Seed Jam” and the “Brilliant Bolognese”. The “Chia Seed Jam” was very tasty, fun and easy to make. This was my first time using Chia seeds in a recipe and was surprised how well the jam set. It didn’t stick at all in the saucepan. All together I think it was an 8/10.

The “Brilliant Bolognese” was a bit harder to make than the “Chia Seed Jam” but was still fun. We followed the cooking time as per the book which gave us an excellent cooked meal. The quantity of the ingredients were perfect to the serving size we wanted, we liked it so much that even though the serving size was for 3 children and 2 adults, we ate it all with 2 children and 2 adults. It tasted really good and I would give it a 9/10.

In general the book was very helpful for us to make dinner together as a family. It was very easy to follow the meals and lots of fun. So altogether a great children’s cook book with lots of great new recipes that we have never tried before. I would recommend this book for children aged 5 and up. Definitely 5 stars !!!!
