Sightsavers have just launched the 5th year of their national art competition for primary school children across Ireland. This is a fun and age appropriate platform which aims to inspire pupils to express their artistic talent while at the same time teaching them about the importance and value of their eyesight and learning about Sightsavers work in preventing avoidable blindness in developing countries.
This year with the help of teachers Sightsavers have included activities and lesson plans in the entry pack that demonstrate how entering the competition can tie in with the various strands of the primary school curriculum. Entry packs should have arrived in schools already. However if they haven’t, these and other entry forms can be downloaded from the website at www.sightsavers.ie/juniorpainter
There are lots of prizes to be won in the competition, details of which are on the Sightsavers website. Every child that enters will receive a certificate. Closing date for receipt of entries is Friday November 29th.
