Ever think about doing some cooking with your pupils? Saucepan Kids is a new website that could give teachers lots of ideas for simple recipes that could easily be used for cooking lessons in school. The aim of the site is to get kids more involved in all aspects of food – growing, harvesting, preparing, cooking and eating – with a view towards developing a more varied appetite for the children. There are some simple recipes on the website that could easily be done in a small school kitchen and that pupils would enjoy helping to cook. Recipes like Eggy Bread, Corn Fritters, Banana and Oat Thickies, Macaroni Cheese, Fruity Muffins, Flapjacks, Chicken Fajitas would all be foods that kids might enjoy cooking and tasting.
If you have a school organic garden, you might also get ideas of what things to plant there, how to grow them and how to harvest them. The website is very new so you can expect the amount of recipes to grow over time, so it is certainly a blog worth following via RSS. The website is also on Facebook and Twitter.
