Welcome to Seomra Ranga, the Hub for Primary School Resources. For the overseas visitors “Seomra Ranga” means “classroom” in the Irish language.
Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. The resources on the site, which support all areas of the curriculum, are arranged in accordance with the curricular provisions of the Irish primary school….

Tin Whistle Christmas Tunes Booklet
This new seasonal resource is aimed at pupils, probably in middle and senior classes, who are learning the tin whistle as part of the music curriculum. It consists of 21 popular Christmas songs and carols, most of which will already be known to the pupils. The tunes are compiled into a pupil booklet.
Santa Letter Flashcards
This seasonal classroom display resource is aimed at pupils in younger classes who are practising writing a letter to Santa. 42 flashcards are included in this display pack which contains many words that pupils will wish to use when writing this important letter. The flashcards are printed three per A4 page.
Christmas Acrostic Poetry Templates
An acrostic poem is one where the beginning letter of each line spells out a particular word. Pupils generally tend to like to write these poems as they are easier than other types of poetry. This seasonal resource contains 27 Christmas-themed Acrostic Poetry templates for pupils to write their own seasonal poetry.
Christmas Story Writing Templates
This seasonal resource is aimed at providing pupils in junior/middle classes with picture prompts for practising their narrative writing skills. Each writing template contains three Christmas-themed images. The job of the pupil is to connect these three elements into a piece of narrative writing. The resource contains 25 different story writing templates.
Drama Telephone Game
This set of cards, aimed at pupils in middle and senior classes, can be used for developing a telephone improvisation for a drama lesson. The line given on the card should be the opening line or one of the opening lines in the telephone conversation. The line should suggest to the pupils the scenario for the improvisation and who is on the other end of the line. There are 50 cards in the pack, four per A4 page.
Book Review – Tír na nÓg
I read and used this book with some 4th class pupils and my daughter. It’s a wonderfully simple retelling of the traditional Irish legend of the same name. In this retelling, Niamh is the beautiful, forever young protagonist of Tír na nÓg who notices the kind and lively Óisín in the human world. She decides to offer him the chance to live in her world, where he will never grow old or sick and where every day is perfect. read more…
Book Review – Snow Pony Express
I have recently read “Snow Pony Express” from the Rowan Tree Stables series, by former champion amateur National Hunt Jockey Nina Carberry. It’s a fun, adventurous book about two close friends, Grace and Aaron, and their ponies, Daisy and Nipper. The children’s school was closed because of the deep snow, so they decided to spend the day with their ponies at the stables. read more…
