Call My Bluff

“Call my Bluff” is a Powerpoint game aimed at 4th – 6th class for practising dictionary skills. It is ideal for use with an interactive whiteboard. On each slide, pupils are presented with a difficult word that they probably have not come across before. Three/four possible explanations are given for the word and pupils have to decide which one they think is the correct definition for the word.

Interview With Harold Hislop, Chief Inspector DES (Part 1)

Dr. Harold Hislop is the Chief Inspector with the Department of Education and Skills (DES). Originally from Co. Cavan, he trained as a primary teacher in Church of Ireland College of Education (CICE). He taught in Whitechurch NS in Rathfarnham, where he later became principal. He gained a Ph.D. from Trinity College, Dublin (TCD) and in the mid-1990′s was seconded to the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA). He subsequently joined the Inspectorate of the DES in 1998 and was appointed Chief Inspector in April 2010. read more…
