Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. Numerosity App

Numerosity is a new maths app for iPad just released in the iTunes App Store from the Thoughtbox company. Its purpose is to reinforce learning in the four main mathematical operations operations. I asked one of my pupils to review the app for me and these are his thoughts:
My teacher asked my to do a review on this new maths game he found on the iPad. The app is called Numerosity. Numerosity is a game where this dog called Scruffy has lots of problems with maths so some of his friends started Numerosity to help. read more…
Our Solar System

This is a very clear and simple Powerpoint resource about our Solar System. There is a slide for each of the nine planets and it gives simple information about each planet that pupils will find easy to understand and remember.

The Irish Traveller

This Powerpoint presentation looks at the life of the Irish Traveller. There is information on the reputed origins of Irish travellers, the numbers of travellers in the population, their particular language, accommodation, celebrations and work . Famous travellers are also mentioned.
Anne Frank

This Powerpoint presentation is about Life During World War II through the eyes of Anne Frank. It initially focuses on children in time of conflict and then specifically looks at the life of Anne Frank through excerpts from her famous diary. This will be a great resource for an SESE History lesson.
Nollaig Shona’s 1st Birthday
Nollaig Shona, the Christmas resources website from Seomra Ranga, celebrated its first birthday this week. I spent many months during 2011 making preparations to launch the new site. Previously, the Christmas resources had been housed in a sub-domain of Seomra Ranga but the amount of resources was growing and needed their own website. So, after a lot of preparation and planning, Nollaig Shona was launched in October 2011. read more…

ICT in the Classroom eBulletin – Issue 6

This is the sixth of David Ganly’s ICT in the Classroom eBulletins. David teaches in Donabate Community College and he says that the eBulletin started off as an idea he had to engage and encourage teachers in his school to use ICT in the classroom. After putting the first edition together he soon realised that it would be more beneficial if he made it open for any teacher to use, so he then decided to circulate it through his email contacts, the CESI list and Edmodo. read more…
