Blue Star Programme
European Movement Ireland is delighted to confirm to Seomra Ranga that the Blue Star Programme will be running for its fifth year over the 2015/2016 school term and that the registration process for interested primary schools across Ireland is now open.

Book Review: Brian and the Giant
This book was written by Chris Judge and Mark Wickham. I really liked the cool pictures in this book. These were drawn by illustrator Mark Wickham. The story was about a giant who was really smelly. He wanted to take a bath so he broke up the villagers’ houses. Then he made a dam out of their houses. Nobody knew what was going on so Brian and his brothers tried to uncover what had destroyed their village. read more…
List of Class Novels
Teachers are always seeking advice and recommendations for novels suitable for particular class standards. There are many lists out there, but few are lists recommended by practising classroom teachers. So, in an attempt to compile a list of novels suitable for use in Irish classrooms, I’m asking teachers to complete this short form, based on their classroom experience.

Coin Fans
Coin fans give pupils the opportunity to answer oral money problems visually. The teacher asks the pupils to calculate the price of an item and the pupil holds up the correct coins on the fan.
The resource consists of fans with all eight coins available in Euro currency. They should be printed out, laminated and cut individually. A hole should then be punched

Book Review: The Butterfly Shell
The “Butterfly Shell” by Maureen White is an interesting book, full of emotions. The main character Marie has just moved into secondary school and is having trouble adjusting. She spends her days at school being bullied by the “Stupid Six”. She foolishly reveals to them that her friend, Stella, is allergic to peanuts.
When Marie suffers a tragic accident her friend Stella forgives her and comes to visit her daily. read more…
