Heroes of Light and Shadow is an exciting new novel by Conor Forrest. It tells the story of Oisín, who finds himself thrown into the world of Irish Mythology. Set in modern Ireland, Oisín discovers that all of the Irish mythological figures that he has read about exist and he is a descendant of the infamous Fionn MacCool.

Together, Oisín and his uncle Fionn (“not the legendary Fionn MacCool”) must try to prevent the Fomorians from destroying Dublin and its inhabitants who are unaware that heroes and monsters live amongst them.

This book is very fast paced and action packed. The reader is thrown into the adventure from the first sentence of the first chapter and Oisín is faced with challenge after challenge to overcome.

The pace at which the story moves, while keeping the reader entertained sometimes moves along so quickly with so many characters that it can be difficult to follow the plot.

However, fans of Irish myths and legends and books like the Percy Jackson series will be sure to enjoy Heroes of Light and Shadow.

I would rate this book 7/10 and think it would be most suitable for children aged 10-13.
