“Enchanted Ireland” is a great book about old Irish legends from every county in Ireland. The 32 stories have been handed down from generation to generation. The book is written by Kieran Fanning and illustrated by Julia Iredale.
I thought it was a very interesting book, with lots of lovely stories. Each story is about 6 to 7 pages, which helps keep all the stories interesting. The story that really stood out for me was the Westmeath story, which was called the Children of Lir. The story is beautifully told and brought to life in the book. Of course being from Kilkenny, I had particular interest in the Kilkenny story and it did not disappoint. It was very interesting and entertaining. There was no negative aspects to the book for me.
I would recommend this book for 10 to 13 year olds. I would give it a score of 9/10. It was very useful to have a background of each area before the beginning of each story. If you like history, you will love this book. Overall I really enjoyed the book.
