Fixing Mum And Dad is a good book. The book is about a girl called Quinn and she has to stay at her grandads with her brother and mum because her parents are fighting. Her parents are fighting because the dad is in Africa being a medic in a warzone. Her mum is afraid he will die or he won’t make it back.
Quinn is frustrated because she has to start a new school half the size of her old school. Quinn makes a new friend called Charlie and he has two mums. She then gets picked on by a girl called Portia but her sister Louisa is kind to Quinn. Quinn, Charlie and Louisa hang out in Quinn’s treehouse reading books. Louisa then has a huge party in her house and Quinn accidently pushes Portia into the cake.
Then the school football team starts and Quinn and Charlie get on the team but a mean goalkeeper also gets on the team annoys Charlie. Charlie then pushes Jake and Charlie gets in trouble and Jake gets starting instead of Charlie. Quinn’s dad comes back for Quinn’s birthday.
Portia then has a serious asthma attack and Quinn’s dad saves her. It was a Christmas play and Teddy was the main character. On Christmas Day Quinn’s dad came home and explained that they will stay with her dad for three days and stay with her mum and grandad for four days. Quinn’s dad then bought a playroom in her grandad’s house.
Overall I liked when Quinn and Charlie were playing football and hanging out in the treehouse reading books but I didn’t like that this book is mostly about girls and I think Sinead Moriarty should make more boys and girls books.
