Milly Mc Carthy and the Christmas Calamity is the newest story in the Milly McCarty series. The main character is Milly. She lives with her mum, her dad, her two brothers called Ryan and Zack and her baby sister Izzy. Milly is the oldest. They live in a town called Ballybrogan in Cork. Milly is in fifth class and goes to a Gaelscoil. They speak a lot of Irish in her school.
In this book, the principal asks fifth and sixth class to put on a play so Milly is in charge with her friend Ronan but it ends up being a giant disaster and Milly ends up sitting in the principal’s office!
Milly is in trouble every day but is still silly and funny. My favourite part was when the Christmas play turned into a mess because it was crazy. I also liked the book because Milly is from Ireland and because some of the book is written in Irish as well as English.
I thought that this book was really good and I would give it a 10 out of 10. I think it is suitable for children who are 8 years old or older. I really enjoyed this book and I hope you do too.
