I have recently read “Snow Pony Express” from the Rowan Tree Stables series, by former champion amateur National Hunt Jockey Nina Carberry. It’s a fun, adventurous book about two close friends, Grace and Aaron, and their ponies, Daisy and Nipper. The children’s school was closed because of the deep snow, so they decided to spend the day with their ponies at the stables.
That day Grace’s granny asked them to get groceries. On their way to the market, they noticed lots of people struggling with walking on the snow and ice. So the children started delivering groceries to the people’s doorsteps by using their ponies to pull a sleigh to carry the bags.
One day, when the dark was setting and the children finished their rounds, a blizzard hit. They had to hide in an unused barn and got snowed in. Will they get out until the night gets really cold?
I recommend this book for pony lovers from ages 7 to 9. I liked the plot, but some of the scenes were predicable and clichéd. Overall I give this book a 7/10.
