I really enjoyed reading Stockingopolis by Tatyana Feeney. This imaginative picture book tells the story of a very unusual place where socks and stockings play an important role. The illustrations are bright, colourful and engaging, making the story even more appealing for children.
What stood out to me most was the creativity of the world Tatyana Feeney created. The book is both funny and clever, and it encourages children to see how ordinary objects, like socks, can become part of a big adventure. The text is accessible for younger pupils, while the illustrations strongly support comprehension and add extra enjoyment.
I would highly recommend this book for use in infant and middle classrooms. It works very well as a read-aloud story and can spark imaginative discussions and follow-up activities. Stockingopolis is a fun, engaging picture book that children will want to return to again and again.
