Welcome to the Seomra Ranga website. For the overseas visitors “Seomra Ranga” means “classroom” in the Irish language.

I’m a practising primary school teacher with many years teaching experience in both urban and rural schools. I have taught every class in the primary school at one stage or another. In September 2013 I moved from teaching in mainstream classes to a newly established ASD unit in my rural primary school in Sligo, Ireland, where I taught until June 2018. I have now returned to mainstream and teach 6th class.

Having trained as a primary school teacher in Carysfort College of Education, Blackrock, Co. Dublin, a member of the final cohort of teachers to be trained in that institution before its untimely closure in 1988, I qualified as a B.Ed. graduate. I subsequently studied in University College, Dublin where I gained an M.Ed. degree. I mainly taught in urban primary schools in Dublin before returning to teach in Sligo in 1998.

The Seomra Ranga website was set up in September 2007. The initial aim of the website was to share practical resources for the primary school classroom on the web. The resources provided on the site are mostly personal resources that I have put together over the years. I have used many of them in my teaching in the classroom.

Many of the resources have been created especially for this website or as a result of requests from visitors to the site. The resources are arranged in accordance with the curriculum provisions of the Irish primary school. I hope that visitors to the site will find the resources beneficial.

Go n-éirí an t-adh libh.
