Peg the Largest Number 01

Peg the Largest Number 01This resource is aimed at junior pupils or SEN pupils. It is based on reinforcing the concept of number up to 20. The pack contains 24 cards – on the right hand side of each card are four numbers less than 20. The pupil has to use a clothes peg to identify the largest of these four numbers.

Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut up into 24 separate cards. The pack could be split up into two packs of twelve cards. This pack could be an ideal activity for numeracy station work in Rang I/II. A pack of 6 sets could be put together, one for each pupil in the group, to be completed at a “number station”.

This activity is especially suitable for pupils who may not be able to write answers but have mastered conservation of number, therefore it is a way for them to demonstrate this mastery. It is also good for fine motor skills in the manipulation of the pegs onto the cards.
