Céim ar Aghaidh (Step Ahead) is a GAA Games Development initiative to supply teachers and pupils with educational resources based on the enjoyable theme of Gaelic Games. It uses the fun of Gaelic games to deliver an exciting range of exercises to support the Primary School Curriculum in many different curricular areas. The Céim ar Aghaidh resource pack exercises can be adapted to suit children of varying abilities through differentiated worksheets. Céim Ar Aghaidh/Step Ahead provides an extremely comprehensive spread of opportunities for children.
Resources are split up into Junior Cycle (Infants/1st/2nd), Middle Cycle (3rd/4th) and Senior Cycle (5th/6th). Within each of those cycles, there are downloadable teacher notes and pupil worksheets. All of these resources are free to download in English and as Gaeilge.
Céim Ar Aghaidh/Step Ahead can be used to support teaching in a variety of curricular areas and the exercises can be adapted to suit children of varying abilities through differentiated tasks. In keeping with the ethos of the GAA, the material is designed to promote participation for all. As a consequence, a specific section addresses the needs of pupils with special educational needs.
