Safer Internet Day is part of a global drive to promote a safer Internet for all users, especially young people. The 8th Safer Internet Day will be celebrated on 7th February 2012 in many countries across the world, including Ireland, centred on the theme “Connecting generations and educating each other“, where they encourage users young and old to “discover the digital world together…safely”!. Webwise has suggestions for activities and events that you can hold in your school or classroom to take part in Safer Internet Day 2012.

So, if you are planning SPHE lessons for early February, perhaps you could include activities on Safer Internet Use. Activities on the Webwise website include lesson plans, posters, teacher’s notes and especially  a 32 page “Play and Learn: Being Online” activity book aimed at 4-8 year olds with lots of fun activities aimed at discussing the impact of technology on the lives of the pupils and especially keeping safe online.
