CVC Booklet – Medial A
This 21-page phonics booklet is aimed at infant pupils or SEN pupils at the beginning of work on phonics. It is based on their knowledge of CVC words with medial A. The resource could be used as a teaching tool or alternatively, it could be used as a form of practice and/or assessment. The booklet has a range of activities for pupils to complete to practise their CVC words.
Match the Shadow – 01
This resource is aimed at pupils in junior classes, SEN pupils or pupils who need some practice on visual discrimination. The resource, based on fruit and vegetables, aims to help pupils to use visual cues to match each item to its shadow or silhouette. There are twelve items for pupils to match.
Unusual Art 01
As well as creating pieces of art, pupils are required under each of the six Strands of the Irish Visual Arts curriculum to look at and respond to art created by others. These four lessons give pupils opportunities to “look at, enjoy and make a personal response” to unusual art created by four different artists using four unusual mediums to create their art.

Potato Print Seascape Art
This lesson is most suitable to do during the summer term or when working on a “sea” theme in the classroom. It uses a printing technique with potatoes to create a seascape picture. It could be done as a standalone lesson under the Paint Strand of the Visual Arts curriculum or integrated into an overall marine theme.
I Am An Artist Website
I Am An Artist is a website set up many years ago to support primary teachers in the delivery of the Visual Arts curriculum in the classroom. The website is certainly worth a visit for teachers to gain a better insight and overview of the Visual Arts curriculum and to gain some inspiration for some of the Strands that you may be less familiar with. read more…
