Walkabout Maths 01 – TU

by admin on 12/03/2017

The purpose of this resource is to create an active maths lesson where pupils get out of their desks to complete the task. The focus of the task is to assess pupils’ understanding of tens and units as represented on an abacus.

Laminate and cut out the twenty six cards. On each card is an abacus and a large letter of the alphabet. Place these cards around the classroom or around the school to create a type of maths trail. Print out a copy of the Pupil Answer Sheet for each pupil/pair. When the pupil finds each card on their “Walkabout” they record the number they see on the abacus beside the appropriate letter on their answer sheet.

An answer sheet for the teacher is also provided.

Thanks for that Emma, there’s lots more of this type of activity coming soon on the revamped site.
