This resource is aimed at middle standard pupils or SEN pupils at the beginning of work on digital time. It is based on reinforcing the concept of “quarter past”. The pack contains 24 cards – half using the format “¼ past four” etc. and the other half using the format ” ¼ past 4″ etc.
Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut up into 24 separate cards. Pupils should read the time on the watch on the left side of each card and place a peg on the correct answer on the right side of the card. The pack could be split up into two packs of twelve cards. This pack could be an ideal activity for numeracy station work in middle classes. A pack of 6 sets could be put together, one for each pupil in the group, to be completed at a “digital time station”.
This activity is especially suitable for pupils who may not be able to write answers but can read the time. It is a way for them to demonstrate their understanding of the concept of digital time. It is also good for fine motor skills in the manipulation of the pegs onto the cards.
