Buzzing With BooksBuzzing with Books, a conference to celebrate children’s engagement with literature, will take place on May 22nd and 23rd in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. The conference promises to be of particular benefit and interest for primary school teachers, as a range of educational workshops will focus on the newest methods of teaching literacy in the classroom. These workshops include sessions on Aistear and oral language, technology and reading, supporting children with special educational needs, and the very latest children’s books releases.

The conference also includes a range of internationally known Irish authors and illustrators, who will provide insights into how children can be inspired to read. The second day of the conference, on May 23rd, will feature a Children’s Festival for primary and pre-school children. Classrooms all over the country will be able to watch author/illustrator presentations online, and will also have the chance to win hampers of books for their school by submitting a book-response to the Book Hook competition. Follow the conference on Twitter @buzzingwbooks, or visit the conference website, www.buzzingwithbooks.ie, to find all relevant registration and competition information. Early-bird registration ends on April 15th.
