Many of our pupils with special needs have difficulty with their academic work and therefore may struggle to ask for help, especially if they are in the mainstream classroom. Therefore they will need a structure to easily allow them to ask for help. These Help Tokens are aimed at assisting the pupil to visually let the teacher/SNA know that they need some help.
When the pupil is having difficulty, they can produce the Wait Token to demonstrate to the teacher/SNA that they need some help. This will be a helpful learning experience for the pupil. The idea is that, over time, the pupil will feel comfortable letting the adult near them know that they need help. It will also foster independence allowing the adult to take a step back and only help the pupil when requested to do so.
