Happy New YearAs we come to the end of another calendar year and say goodbye to 2013, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the visitors and supporters of the Seomra Ranga website a Happy New Year and wish you all the best for 2014. Many thanks for your constant support for the work of the website and your continued engagement with the site through the Twitter and Facebook pages.

It’s been another busy year on the site with the publication of 365 new posts, including new resources, Guest Posts, app reviews, book reviews, website reviews, education news and more. The year also saw the overall number of posts on the site break the 3,000 mark, not bad for something that is worked on part-time! Visitor numbers to the site have also increased with more than 700,000 visits to the site during the year and pages viewed on the site topped 3 million!

Seomra Ranga was also delighted to be nominated for various awards during the year: Popular UK educational website Teaching News selected Seomra Ranga as the first in its new series  of “Brilliant Blogger of the Week” in January, 2013; Scoilnet, Ireland’s largest educational portal site, awarded Seomra Ranga its “Site of the Week” Award in March 2013; Seomra Ranga was named by Ed Tech Magazine as one of their 50 Must-Read K-12 IT Blogs for 2013Seomra Ranga reached the Finalists’ List for the Blog Awards Ireland 2013 in the Best Science/Education Blog category; The site reached the Semi-Finalists’ List for the Irish Web Awards 2013 in the Best Education / Third Level website category; And at the end of the year Seomra Ranga was nominated in the Edublog Awards 2013 in three different categories:Best Individual BlogBest Teacher Blog and Best Ed Tech/Resource Sharing Blog.

As we approach 2014, our aim is to keep on doing what we do best – providing free downloadable classroom resources, suggestions for books and apps, links to great websites, news on matters of educational interest, suggestions on the use of technology in the classroom, competitions, reviews and much more.
