Maths Week Ireland 2013 takes place from 12th – 20th October this year. Maths Week Ireland promotes awareness, appreciation and understanding of maths through a huge variety of events and activities. It is a great opportunity for schools to place an added emphasis on the importance of maths and how it affects our daily lives. It also gives an opportunity to have some fun with maths by engaging in maths games, puzzles, board games, maths art and maths online activities.
The Maths Week website has ideas for teachers on how to organise and create a Fun Maths Day. It has links to online resources that may be useful; it has Maths Week posters to download; it has maths mazes; it has ideas on how to create a maths trail; it has information on maths heroes throughout history.
Last year I created a Maths Week Table Quiz for the first time and I’m currently working on a new one for this year which I hope will be ready in time.
There is also a list of links to Maths Websites on this site which teachers may find useful.
In the comments section below, let us know what your school is doing for Maths Week, or post links to some good maths resources, websites or games.
