Some pupils with special needs, but perhaps especially those with autism, will have problems coping when they angry and do not know how to handle it or how to react to it. This visual aid may help them to realise that they have options for those times when anger appears to be taking over.
Discuss with the pupil possible options that they may have eg. read a book, go to the quiet corner, have some time out in sensory area, do a jigsaw puzzle etc. Images for these options should be adhered to the board in the spaces provided so that they are a visual reminder to the pupil whenever anger is in danger of taking over.
