Children's Learning FestivalI just recently came across this great idea from Navan Education Centre where they are organising what they call a “Children’s Learning Festival” (Féile Léinn na nÓg). The Centre is inviting all primary and post primary schools in Counties Meath, Louth and Cavan to participate in the Children’s Learning Festival as a part of its 40th anniversary celebrations. The Learning Festival will take place on Saturday 18th May. It will celebrate what the students have learned during the school year 2012 – 2013. It will be a public exhibition where they can showcase the fantastic and very inspiring work they have achieved at school during the year. It is not a competition, it is not a test, but a celebratory event where the students can proudly display their work and talk about it with parents, other schools and with the visiting public.

It reminds me of a kind of “Young Scientist” exhibition – but schools/classes can choose to display any kind of work they have done in any area of the curriculum. Each school/class will be given a specified display space where they can “show off” any special piece of work they have done during the school year. Further information on the festival, including registration and resources, is available on the Celebrate Learning website.
