I attended a workshop given by John Heffernan at the recent ICT in Education Conference in the Thurles campus of LIT on “A Brief History of the Near Future” where he looked at predictions of what the technologies of the future might look like. One of the videos he showed was one called “A Day Made of Glass” which has been a huge hit on Youtube with over 19 million views. I just came across a follow-up video to this called “A Day Made of Glass 2” where the same company, Corning, builds on its vision for the future, which also includes the types of technologies it envisages schools of the future will have. Watch the video and ask yourself if any of these technologies will appear in our classrooms any time soon!
