Drama

Many teachers are reticent when it comes to the teaching of drama in the classroom so here are some words of wisdom from some experts in educational drama:

  • “Since creative drama involves an entire class, the best place to begin in preparing students for activities that will involve movement and self-expression is where they are – at their desks”. Lehr (1983)

  • “Unless it is necessary to do otherwise ………… drama should move slowly”.  Jonothan Neelands (1984)

  • “Start from where you yourself are happiest and most confident”. Brian Way (1967)

  • “The teacher’s purpose in drama is to make the children do all the work”. Jonothan Neelands (1984)
